Late Night Food Delivery is a Life Saver

I am definitely a night person, and sometimes, I forget to eat dinner at a normal time. I have grown to really appreciate late night food delivery, because if it wasn't for those brave souls that are willing to work the midnight shift, I would often times go hungry.

When I decided to become a writer for a living, I thought that I had to adhere to a rigid schedule of waking up early, firing up the computer and cranking out stories. I did that for a few weeks, and then began to understand that the whole reason I had left the corporate world was so that I would not have to do that.

I started sleeping in longer and going to bed later, until eventually I reached the point that I actually worked better at night and was more productive. I would often stay up until 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. just writing away, and that started to become my routine.

Because I was waking up later in the day and working late into the night, I started putting off dinner longer and longer, until eventually one night, it was five minutes before midnight and I had not had dinner. That was when I had my first encounter with late night food delivery, and I will never forget it, because it really surprised me.

I had ordered from a Chinese place, and I was already getting tired from working. I just assumed that the delivery person would be the same way, but he was actually quite chipper. It never occurred to me that he was very likely just starting his shift and that he was probably raring to go. He was very friendly, and told me to feel free to order any time.

A few weeks later, I saw an ad for a local pizza place that was open late and also had delivery. Since I had already discovered how pleasant and convenient late night food delivery could be, I decided to give the place a call about a week later when I was working late, and it was pretty much the same scenario.

I think what most impressed me was that the pizza I ordered was still hot and fresh. I had assumed that ordering food so late meant that there would be a trade-off, and that places would not put as much effort into it as they would have during the day, but it was actually just as good.

Late night food delivery has been a life saver to me, because I don't have to think about what I'm going to make on those nights I don't get around to eating at a reasonable time or just plain don't feel like cooking. I would encourage anyone who works later hours to at least try it once.
