There are many milestones during pregnancy, but some are more exciting than others. When you get to pregnancy week 12, there are a few things that you know, and a few things that you can start to look forward to as far as how you are feeling and how the pregnancy is progressing. Either way, week 12 is a great time for most pregnant women, though they still see a full six months ahead of them before they can welcome their new baby into the world. There are a few things that every woman should know about ending her first trimester and starting the second.
If you are one of those women who has been feeling unwell throughout the first trimester of pregnancy, this is a good time for you. You are going to start feeling the nausea going away when you near and pass pregnancy week 12. Most women start to feel better and also regain some energy. The days of having to nap in the afternoon and being overwhelmed by fatigue by six in the evening are over at least until after the baby arrives. Many women feel that the second trimester of pregnancy is the best one as they start to feel better, have more energy, but they are not yet uncomfortably large.
By the time you get to pregnancy week 12, you can also relax a bit about the possibility of miscarriage. This is a milestone that most women look towards because most miscarriage happens before week 12. For most, it happens before week eight, but not for all. Most who get this far relax about the viability of the pregnancy and feel much safer about letting family and friends know about the baby, and they also find that they are more comfortable going out to start buying things for the new baby.
Pregnancy week 12 is also a great time to start planning the nursery. This is the time in pregnancy when you have the most energy, so don't think that you are starting too early. You may find that the last two or three months of pregnancy are hard on your body, and you won't have as much energy to work on the room. This is the time to start doing what you can without knowing what the gender of the baby is just yet. If you do not plan on finding out until the baby comes, you can work on the rest of your nursery as well.
This is also a great time to get in those workouts that you may not have had time or energy to do when you did not feel well and wanted to sleep all of the time. Get out and take a walk, go for a swim, or do any other pregnancy okay-ed exercises recommended by your doctor. This helps you keep down the amount of weight you gain, and can also help make labor easier. Because you have more energy pregnancy week 12 and beyond, this is the time to get moving before the baby gets too big for most exercises to feel comfortable.
