If you need home or business security system, you can be overwhelmed by the choices given or presented to you by any company you contact for help. You may know you want door alarms and security monitoring, but you may not be sure if you should worry about getting a motion sensor alarm. If you understand more about what they do and what can go wrong with them, you can then better decide if this is something you would like to have added to your security system or if you can leave them out all together. Some people need them and some do not.
A motion sensor alarm is much like it sounds. It goes off when it senses motion. You may have seen this if you have motion sensor lights on your business or on the outside of your home. The moment that any motion is detected, the light would come on, usually flooding a good area with bright, white light. For some people, this is all of the motion detection equipment that they need. This light will scare away many folks who are poking around where they should not be. However, some are more determined, and they can easily avoid your lights. This is when the sensor alarms may be a good idea.
You are going to find out that a motion sensor alarm is not practical in a busy home. The moment anyone within the home goes past it it will go off. If you have pets, they can easily trigger one of these and scare the wits out of everyone in the house in the middle of the night. However, they can be placed in unused areas like basements and garages where an intruder may find access to your home and your belongings. Otherwise, these are more suited to be used by businesses that are going to be closed at night.
For the business, such an alarm may seem like overkill, but think about how much you have invested in your business. Even small theft is enough to put a dent into your profits, so imagine what happens with a break-in were to occur without interruption. Instead of hoping someone can not get around your other alarms, think about putting a motion sensor alarm in an strategic area (or two) so that you can feel better about leaving your business each night. They will sound an alarm either silent or aloud right then and there while your security service is notified so the police can be sent as soon as possible.
There can be a few problems with a motion sensor alarm. You do not want one that is too sensitive or you could be faced with false alarms. Some have to be adjusted over time for the right sensitivity. Some are so sensitive that they will go off by a fly or other small insect, which means a lot of trouble for you. Look through many models with different levels of sensitivity before you decide which model is best for you and your own personal or business needs.
