Common End of Life Symptoms

Death signifies the end of life and people go through a process before they eventually die. The symptoms are unique depending on the cause of death though the result is the same. Many people embark on a discovery journey that makes them accept their impending death. The end of life symptoms may take a longer or a shorter period depending on how individuals embrace them. The ends of life symptoms are both emotional and physical and each impacts differently on each person. One of the emotional change that dying people will show is withdrawal. These people become less and less conscious of their immediate environment and seem lost.

They also loose interest in things that used to excite them like their favorite pastimes and even people. They seem to be low on energy and get fatigued faster than usual. It is important to grant these people their wish and embrace their withdrawal by giving them space. Being available when they require attention will be a highly appreciated gift. Another end of life symptom is vision-like experiences where these people engage in conversations with people that cannot be seen by others. These experiences seem real to these people and it is important not to contradict them. They will talk of seeing people and places that none of the other people can see and this is just an end of life symptom.

The best way to react to this is to let them be since they are comfortable with what they are experiencing. Sleeping is another of the end of life symptoms and these people will tend to sleep more often than they used to. This is caused by their loss of energy and it is important to keep talking to these people and assuring them of your presence. These people will suffer a subdued appetite level since the body starts shutting down. The digestive system also becomes unstable and this makes them loose interest in foods and fluids. Dying people are mostly worried about their loved ones who they are just about to leave behind. It is important to assure them that all will be well and this may be a precious goodbye since they will die in peace.

When these symptoms persist, it is important to call family and friends to bid their loved one goodbye since the time could be due. Words like I love you, I am sorry, thank you, and I will miss you work magic for the person experiencing the end of life symptoms, and they will go in peace knowing that they touched peoples lives. Another end of life symptom is an abnormal coolness on the arms, ears, feet, hands, and nose. This is brought about by a low blood circulation and it is important to ensure that these people stay warm. A change in skin color is another o the end of life symptoms and it is brought about by a slow blood circulation. The skin may become blotchy and have a blue shade. Signs that indicate that death has occurred include an absent heart beat, slightly open fixed eyes, enlarged pupils, relaxed jaws and a slightly open mouth.
