The Undercounter Refrigerator

There are very few homes that can do without a full sized refrigerator, but there are always times when you can use an undercounter refrigerator in other areas of your home and other areas of your life. You can have them in your home, your office, or you can have them in your RV. Most recreational vehicles that can accommodate them come with one, but if you buy a used one, it may be missing. You can also use them in your basement if you have a recreational room, or you can have one in your garage if you or someone else in your home spends a lot of time there. They are also great for dorm rooms too.

The most important part of getting the right undercounter refrigerator is to make sure you are getting the right size. Though there is a standard size that you can buy that fit most places, there are larger and smaller ones too. You either have to measure the preexisting space that this there for a undercounter refrigerator, or you have to make sure you know which you are going to get so you can build the space for it accordingly when you are doing home renovations or additions. You don't want to have to take one back or tear things apart so it can fit.

The undercounter refrigerator you can get for your home or any other space can come in two basic models regardless of the size that you choose. Some will come with just the cooling space, and some come with a small freezer area that you can use. Decide what you might need. For kids, you may want to have one to keep ice pops inside, or perhaps you want something for soda only, which means you won't need to pay more for one with a freezer unit. Campers need one with both, but recreational rooms may only need the refrigerator.

When installing the undercounter refrigerator, remember that like the larger model you have in your kitchen, you have to have space for the door to swing open and closed without hitting anything. You also have to remember that some people with bad backs may not use the undercounter refrigerator very well, as it will hurt them to bend. You can use these models up on a counter top as long as it is sturdy enough to hold it. You can always reenforce your counter top or other surface to handle the weight if you are not sure. Always err on the side of caution and make sure.

Unlike larger refrigerators, these undercounter refrigerator models may have to be defrosted. Some will work like the new models you have in your home, meaning it won't be necessary, the some of the smaller models with a freezer unit may freeze over from time to time. This often happens when the door is left open or does not seal well. If you keep having to defrost, make sure your until is level so that the door swings shut, and also see if the seal is sealed properly. If not, you will have to get it replaced in order for it to work correctly and efficiently.
